In another week in the celebrity spotlight, Taylor Swift launched her RED Tour in Asia at the Mercedes-Benz Shanghai Arena. The event sold out in just one minute, a testament perhaps to her exploding popularity in Asia. In New Jersey, champagne, beautiful weather and graceful horses lead to a triumphant day at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. Celebrities were dressed to impress in polo style including model Behati Prinsloo, and actresses Dakota Johnson, Busy Philipps and Olivia Munn.
It was no less glamorous at the the CFDA Fashion Awards held at Lincoln Center in New York. Across town, Tony Awards nominees gathered for a cocktail party held in their honor. Neil Patrick Harris, Bryan Cranston and Chris O’Dowd were among the nominees who enjoyed the night. Not content to attend just one event, Neil Patrick Harris moved to EAT (RED), DRINK (RED), SAVE LIVES, a 10-day food festival campaign organized by chef Mario Batali, the proceeds of which are directed to the global fight against AIDS.
In London, the Glamour Women of the Year Awards was a decidedly glamorous affair. Dame Helen Mirren, winner of an Academy Award for Best Actress, four BAFTAs, three Golden Globes, and one of the world’s most beloved actresses, was honored with the Icon Award. Recently engaged, Emma Roberts was in Hawaii at the Maui Film Festival to accept an award, and spoke to Fashion One at length about her continuing work on the American Horror Story TV series. Glenn Close was the guest of honor at a benefit for The Sundance Institute, with other stars lending support, including Jeremy Irons, George Lucas and Keri Russell, among others.
