Fashion One features Meet with Eva Herzigova : Modelling Career

Forever a true beauty icon approaching her 40s, top model of the 90s, Eva Herzigova fondly looks back at 23 years at the top!

Eva Herzigova : It all started in Paris, it was September 1989, so it was a long time ago. And I had come from a communist country, the ex- Czechoslovakia. I took part in a contest, and I didn't feel comfortable, so I left and the organizer noticed and she followed me to the elevator, and she said `do you want to come to Paris?' so without taking part in it she chose me straight away.

At the beginning there were a lot of castings, a lot of `go and see' and I my first job was at Guess, I worked with Paolo Roversi for Marie Claire with Ellen Von Unwerth for Italian Vogue and with Patrick Demarchelier, big photographers. In fact I remember that it was my goal to work with certain photographers.

Before, there were models that just did the runways, or models who were in beauty. Everything was separate, each sector had its own group of models available. But then we could really do anything, we did fashion shows, publicity campaigns, we were seen everywhere, its touching looking back!
